Cardinal Locator version 1.9.0 has been released, introducing a Store Locator Gutenberg block named “Locator”, Dutch language support, a couple of new settings related to caching, and an important fix related to license activation. Please review the full changelog list below for all the details on the release.
WordPress Store Locator Gutenberg block
An initial Gutenberg block named “Locator” is now included that makes embedding your store locator easier than ever. Now you can simply insert the locator into any post or page using the block editor – no shortcodes required! This seamlessly integrates with your content creation workflow while maintaining all the powerful functionality you expect from our store locator. This block will continue to be developed and enhanced with various settings in future versions of the plugin.
Dutch (Nederlands) Translation
Cardinal Locator now includes Dutch language support, the first translation to be added to the plugin. This update helps businesses serve Dutch-speaking customers in the Netherlands and Belgium. Dutch was chosen first based on previous sale statistics and other internationalization additions will be considered for future versions.
Enhanced Cache Management
Two important cache-related improvements give you more control over how location data is handled:
- Clear Cache Button: A convenient “Clear Cache” button is now included at the bottom of the Primary Settings panel, allowing you to clear your location data as needed.
- Disable Remote Data Caching Option: For users utilizing a Remote URL as their data source, a setting to disable remote data caching has been adde. This ensures your store locator always displays the most up-to-date information when real-time accuracy is crucial.
Site Health Integration
Additional integrations with WordPress’s Site Health feature have been added, providing custom error logging specifically for the Cardinal plugin. This makes troubleshooting easier by giving you visibility into any issues that might affect your installation.
License Activation Fix
A critical license activation, verification, and deactivation issue has been resolved by implementing a custom User-Agent header for those requests. This fix ensures remote license requests from any server location won’t be blocked by Cloudflare.
WordPress 6.8.1 Compatibility
The plugin has been tested and confirmed full compatibility with WordPress 6.8.1, ensuring your store locator continues working well with the latest WordPress release. We strongly recommend updating to this latest version to benefit from these improvements. As always, please back up your WordPress installation before updating any plugins.
After updating it’s recommended to:
- Visit the Store Locator settings page to explore the new options if they apply to your configuration
- Test your existing store locator implementations on your site
- Trying out the new Store Locator Gutenberg block in your posts or pages
